In a time of so much uncertainty, there is something you can be sure of. Your support – whether it’s $50 or $5,000 – is changing lives for the better.
Even for those of us who don’t have much to worry about, we see the challenges our community faces every day. I recently had some blood work done and it took much longer than usual. The phlebotomist was very apologetic and said, “We just don’t have enough people… and the demand is so high.”
Was it coincidence or fate that this happened on the same day that we would come together to confront this very challenge? Thanks to the generosity of our supporters at this year’s Power of the Purse event, more than $25,000 was raised to help students at Cape Cod Community College finish their medical assistant and diagnostic technician certificate programs. This means that Ashley – and so many others like her – will soon become a certified phlebotomist. As a single mom who also helps care for an aging grandparent, Ashley knows this opportunity will not only benefit her family and help them get ahead, but it will make an immediate impact in our community.
The financial support is helping people like me, who are so close to finishing but money keeps me back. This gives me hope for my family.
And it’s more than hope… it’s progress. That’s what YOU make happen with your donation to the Cape and Islands United Way.
This year has been like no other in recent memory. But because of YOU, the Cape and Islands United Way has been able to lead, collaborate and partner with organizations that are making a difference where it’s needed most – in the areas of education, food security, affordable housing, financial stability and health.
So, we thank you, and we need you – now more than ever. YOUR contribution today really matters. It lifts up our neighbors in need now and makes our communities stronger for the future.
Gratefully,
Mark Skala
