Ridge Club fundraiser helps Reach Out and Read

The Ridge Club Women’s Golf Association raised more than $3,000 to help promote the importance of readingaloud to our children. The funds will be used to provide books to community partners who support Reach Out and Read, delivering early literacy intervention to children and their families through visits to their pediatrician. During checkups, doctors hand out free books for children to take home and keep. Vicky Titcomb of Titcomb's Bookshop is ordering the books for us, which will be distributed to Outer Cape Health Services,  the Community Health Center of Cape Cod and Wampanoag Tribe Health Services in Martha's Vineyard. The selection of books will include selections in Spanish, and well as some centering on Native American stories.

About Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read believes all families should have the tools and information they need to make reading aloud a daily routine. They help integrate reading into pediatric practices, advise families about the importance of reading with their children, and share books that serve as a catalyst for healthy childhood development.
